OpenLayers OpenLayers

Release Manager

The OpenLayers release manager is the point person for releases. This means that the release manager is the one to go to with questions like "when will X be released?", "will Y be in the release?", etc. As a release approaches, the release manager communicates with developers assigned to remaining issues to get estimates about when work might be completed. The release manager also makes decisions about what new issues will be addressed by a release. Based on this communication and decisions about what will be included, the release manager can make announcements about when to expect a release and the functionality in the release. Other developers should defer to the release manager when asked questions of this sort.

Specific release manager tasks:

  1. Making sure that release doens't grow without bound, by making calls on what goes into release.
  2. When a candidate is ready, send a vote to the dev list for the psc to vote on.
  3. Compile release announcement for the new RC,.
  4. Poke MetaCarta Person to update the relevant website bits.
  5. Send an announcement to the dev list.
